'Tis Been A Busy Week

So I'm finally just at home today. Since last Friday it was go-go-go. We had our first Young Adult Retreat in the division since a very long time up in Tahoe City, CA. Man was I happy to see the snow. I truly do miss that white stuff and the crisp cold air filling up my lungs. Makes me feel so alive. Makes true Californians pretty sad too from my experience!

Anyway, I drove up with a friend, Paul, and we had a easy, breezy road trip. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for many of our delegates who had to fight through broken down transmissions and stopped cars while Paul and I stopped for lunch. Many delegates crawled on the highway at 10mph due to accidents and rubber-neckers while Paul and I cruised at 80mph. Many didn't get to see the beauty of Tahoe the first day because they didn't get there until 11pm at night. I almost didn't get to see it because while I was to follow my bosses back from lunch to the resort - I had a mental lapse and was sure that I had to go in the opposite direction that they were going. I mean, I had no idea we has already passed our exit rd. and kept going for lunch. I though we still had 10 minutes to go on the road and therefore ended up looking quite dumb. Oh well, we all had a good laugh about that one!

So the weekend was extremely good and fun. Lots of great discussion, messages, worship, games, food - it was cool. I was supposed to take Monday off because I had worked over the weekend but chose to take Friday off instead - Fridays are normally quieter and I wanted to be in on Monday for all the follow up stuff.

So Monday was follow-up which was great and then Monday night, Michelle unnie and I made 75 marble cupcakes. First time making swiss meringue butter cream. First time piping icing on cupcakes. They turned out pretty good! That was for Tuesday where I did a short presentation/testimony about the young adult retreat and then we celebrated our DC's promotion to Lt. Col's. Wednesday was just me trying to get work done and then having a planning meeting with our corps leaders for our next retreat (1 week from now) while sewing epaulets - I'm slowly becoming my father at times....

Thursday was work, dinner w. friends and a show - WICKED! Although, in my head it could've been better musically, I did enjoy being in the theater again. I love it and I think all my life I've been spoiled by going to the theatre, the TSO, the CSB concerts, Toronto Jazz Festival, etc. I haven't done any of that here at all and I think I really should try - if only Andrew would join me.

So I'm at home, preparing to catch up on household stuff. Preparing to highlight my hair tomorrow morning. Going for lunch at my fave Japanese Tapas place - Gotchi. Possibly throwing in some shopping. TYB and TYC Concert this weekend. A worship practice (finally - I get to do something!). And everything else in between.

I am grateful that God is keeping me busy. It feels good to be useful and I trust that He knows where to place me.
