Salvationist

So I'm going back to Toronto before starting my new job at DHQ and the whole point is to cross back into U.S. territory and let customs know that I'm changing my job and hoping to get my R1 Visa re-approved. The first time I did this was simple enough except that I did not bring my University Degree to prove that I was qualified for the job that listed that specific requirement. It resulted in a sob-fest by yours truly and Andrew and I missed out flight out by 5 minutes. The customs officer was a (sorry but I have to say it) jerk. He told me that Jesus would be ready and Jesus wants me to have my customs papers ready.

Now it's going to be even harder and there is a lawyer backing me up this time. However, I have to prove with all that I have that I'm a Salvationist through and through.

What does that mean? I have to show proof of my dedication (cradle roll), Jr. Soldier membership, Corps Cadets (which I didn't do), Senior Soldiership. I have to have letters from officers of high ranking other than my boss to support that I am what I say I am. I have to have documentation of my involvement as a volunteer and soldier in both Canada and the U.S. I'm dead nervous because the lawyer is on vacay and I'm leaving on Monday and there's still no package in my little hands. I'm thankful that the Chief Secretary of the Canada & Bermuda Territory is a friend because it makes the letter-getting thing a lot better. I still don't want to be stuck at the border, balling my eyes out in front of the customs officer because he doesn't believe it for a second.

If they only could read you mind or your heart. I know I am a Christian through and through, regardless of denomination. However, I believe I would bleed red, blue and yellow. I love the Salvation Army and the works they have been and are doing all over the world. I am proud to wear my uniform even though I think pantyhose is the Devil's invention ~ who the heck is comfortable in pantyhose?! I hum Boundless Salvation more often than I'd admit. I love having rousing talks about doctrine, mission and the future of The Salvation Army and have hopes that I too will help make that difference.

Please pray for me and safe & smooth passage U.S. customs and border patrol.
