Feeling Smart

It's official - I am the proud owner of a SMART car. I don't feel that smart yet but once gas prices start soaring again I'll be pretty smug. I have been an avid supporter of fuel efficient cars more and more over the years and now that I'll be commuting 100 miles a day, why not now? Actually, the SMART just made it onto the American market January of this year, whereas in Canada it's been out since 2006. So there is an incredibly long waiting period due to back orders for these tiny things - 1 whole year! We were supposed to get ours in May and I was freaking out and praying really hard because I wasn't sure how I'd be getting back and forth to my new job. God is good - the exact model that we had signed up for suddenly showed up on the orphan list in San Jose and within 6 hours it was a done deal.

This is not my car obviously because I live in California and there is no snow where I live! But this is exactly what mine looks like.

I can't say that it's the zippiest thing because there is a ridiculous lag between 1st and 2nd gears. If I can get over it and also get over my need for speed, I'll do just fine. People think I'm crazy but I've had and average of 2 or 3 people stop me since getting it, just to ask about it, check it out, sit in it, etc. Hey, if I can be an advocate for fuel efficient cars, I'm happy to do so!
Gotta go - I smell my paneer nan burning and just spilled mae ploy sauce on the couch - so much for not wasting...good food that is.
