New Beginnings

So this weekend was a weekend of new beginnings. For Gloria (Andrew’s 1st cousin and my friend) and her new husband Richard Ushirode. It was a beautiful Saturday wedding on the King Valley Golf Club terrace and everything went perfectly - and they had traditional Japanese drummers that came in and provided some dinner entertainment! There was soooo much food, we all had to be rolled outta there by the end of the night. Congrats to the happy couple!

While these two love birds were tying the knot, Andrew’s eldest brother, Justin, and his wife Joanne were going through their first delivery ever – well, Justin’s performed many deliveries seeing as he is a doctor, but this was the first time he’s seen his own child being delivered (he opted to just be Mr. Kim for this momentous occasion). So at 4ish in the morning, Benjamin Nathan Kim was brought into the world (24 hrs of labour!) and he’s healthy, very gentle and loves to sleep. We hope this continues throughout his infancy and toddler years! Andrew’s parents are elated and Joanne is recovering well.

I’m really beginning to feel like I’m part of this huge family of Andrew’s. Gloria and I had a laugh at the wedding because she had told someone that my dad was her cousin’s dad becuase she had panicked (long story, don't ask). Well, technically, in a few months that would be true wouldn’t it? Hahaha. And now, not only am I considered a “Gho-mo” to Faith (paternal aunt), but now I’m going to be a “Jah-Gheun-Um-Ma” to Benjamin Nathan – literal translation is small aunt (hahaha – there’s nothing small about me!). We get called small father and small mother because Andrew is Justin’s youngest brother. Korean is so complicated sometimes.
