Blessings

Once upon a time there was a girl named Kimberly, born into a very well-to-do and influential family, living in Oakville. She was engaged to be married and searched high and low for someone to make her the wedding dress of her dreams. She found a humble tailor working out of his shop on Jarvis and Shuter. His name was David and his wife had just been diagnosed with cancer. He agreed to do this dress for her but told her it would be the last wedding dress he'd do for a long time - his wife was sick and he wanted to devote his time to her and their young children.

The dress design was that of Vera Wang complexity and required only the best material money could buy. Kimberly asked that he spare no expense and find the one that he though was best. David contacted all the high end fabric dealers from Toronto, Montreal and London, and not only did he find the best Pearl-white Italian silk/satin mix to fashion the dress, but he also fit the garment so perfectly that her entire family decided to all get outfitted at his shop too.

It was the most beautiful wedding David had ever been invited to and the bride was ecstatic.

16 years later, another girl, also named Kimberly, was almost at the end of her wits, trying to make the wedding budget work. She had put off wedding dress shopping and decided to have it made by her father to try to keep costs down. Besides, how many can say that they had their dresses made by their father?

The task of fabric shopping was daunting and kept her up at night, nervous about finding the perfect shade of white, the perfect weight of fabric, the perfect price. She had thrown her hands in the air and asked God if there was any way to get out of doing this!

After a long day at the office, Kimberly stumbled into her father's office, mumbled something about finding fabric for flower girls, and with a sigh of distress she flopped onto a couch. However, she was promptly told by her father to go check out the garage for some left over fabric which was of great quality and would be enough for the flower girl dresses.

Kimberly climbed over mountains and mountains of fabric, finally stumbling on a white roll, which upon first glance looked like dress lining fabric. Regardless of her doubt, she brought it in with her.

As she and her father peeled back the dusty, dirt laden plastic bag, a sudden gasp was heard.
It was THE fabric she had been looking for all along - pearl-white, high-grade, Italian silk/satin that would not crease... and it was free!

You see, in 1991, after the Oakville Kimberly's wedding was over, there was still enough fabric left over to make another dress... although he thought he'd never make a wedding dress again, David never threw it away because it was just too beautiful of a fabric that he most likely would never come by something so exsquisite ever again...someone someday would want it and he'd keep it until that day.

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT??? I hardly could! I really did shed a tear. God has blessed me with an awesome father. I'm still jumping for joy!

Oh yeah - one more blessing today - I found out my cousin who lives in Washington State is moving to Mercede, CA - 1.5 hrs away from Mountain View, CA....I'm going to have my family close to me after all!!! Wooo hoooo!!!! Really, GOD IS GOOD. We're both really nervous about moving and starting our new lives but at least we can be there for each other =)
