Easter – Come and Gone

And so another crazy Easter has come and gone.

It’s mostly a time of reflection, many dinners and brunches with family & friends, and generally taking it easy. For moi, seeing as Christmas and Easter are celebrations of the very things that our Christian faith is built upon, It’s absolutely nuts for me, and I’m sure, for other pastors too.

Sermon translations that have fallen through the cracks, detailed devotions lessons, entertaining 15 enigmatic youth, delightful drives to the boonies, doodling on eggs, purchasing pound-upon-pound of carefully crafted rabbit and egg-shaped chocolates, preparing a turkey meal while fasting, and trying to have the Eucharist with youth who think that Jesus’ body tastes great!

I must admit that although I thoroughly enjoy celebrating our Saviour’s victory over death and ultimate gift of Salvation, my quest to make sure that it doesn’t lose it’s true meaning to the wonderful people at Hallmark had rendered me quite exhausted and totally spent.

Now if only I can muster up enough energy to get myself to my own wedding, I’ll be in the clear.
