San Francisco
So over the past month or so, we've had vistor after visitor as I mentioned previously. Of course, being so close to San Francisco, we have spent numerous days there and gladly so. I completely miss having an urban setting just at my fingertips or being completely immersed in it. Although I grew up in the "burbs", Downtown Toronto was my home. Dad's office was always down there. The Eaton Center, Queen Street, The Annex, Bay and Bloor, Yonge and Bloor, Union, Kensington, Queen West, The Distillery, The Beaches, Chinatown, and U of T (to name a few) were my playgounds - and oh what fun I had!
Although I will never understand the ugly, side by side, pepto-bismol-pink housing, nor the grodiness of the streets in comparison to Toronto, I have really come to love downton SF and hope that Andrew and I can get the chance to live there, even if for a year, if we can afford it! Rent is ridiculous and having a studio apartment just won't cut it for the two of us. Yet, here's hoping!
We have been traipsing around town, mostly on the central and east side. Financial District, by
AT&T park (south beach), the Warf, North Beach, Nob Hill, and all along the Embarcadero. So far my fave places to be are at Giant's stadium (very NICE) and the Ferry Building Farmer's Market (although not at midday when the crowds are ridiculous). I also love that I can walk to things rather than have to drive all over the place like in Mountain View. Walking is great but not practical in Silicon Valley. You pretty much have to drive to a park in order to walk around it =(.
Anyhoo - missing Toronto A LOT. Liking San Fran a lot more than before.
