Valentine-Shmalentine
So what kind of crazy girls in Toronto wanted to go out last night for a pre-Valentine’s, anti-Valentine’s day in the middle of a snow storm and sub-zero temperatures? Of course, Kim & Tomo. We’re definitely crazy enough and apparently according to many, I seem to come winterized.
Anyhoo, we knew we wouldn’t be receiving anything today, the pinkest, reddest, cheesiest day of the year (ok sorry, for those who love to celebrate this holiday). I really could care less for this day, not because Andrew is so far away, but because it is a day of ridiculous waiting in crowded restaurants and sky high prices for flowers marked up 1000%. No joke. 24 roses for $179.99USD…sacrilege!
So a classy night on the town was in order, Tomo in black to commemorate the occasion. We headed over to the TD Wellington Tower, up the ridiculously fast elevator to the 54th floor to hit Canoe. What would be a fantastic view of Toronto at night was shrouded in a blur of white and some lights…still very cool to be sitting on top of the city! Drinks (not me), oysters on the half-shell, smoked salmon art, crab chowder, dessert and coffee kept us feeling quite pampered and content for a good 3 hrs AND we spent less than the $179 that would be wasted on a bunch of roses. Sweet.
For those who are out and about tonight, I applaud you and your courage to stand up to this winter wonderland in the name of love, or smitten-ness, whichever it may be.
As for I, perhaps the tradition of the 13th at Canoe should continue on next year…any takers?
