Buffalo Blight

OK folks... it's been awhile yes, I know. My apologies especially to Lana and Kristen. I'll try to be more diligent in the future.

Andrew was back for the weekend so we decided to try going to Buffalo on Saturday. This was kind of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants thing so we just got directions from "Google Maps" to get to Walden Galleria Mall. Although a Toronto native, I've never been there in my life so I thought, hey let's check it out.

So getting to the border crossing at the Queenston Livingston bridge was not too bad from the highway. There was a flashing sign that said "heavy traffic ahead, SLOW DOWN". I meanwhile, saw nothing. Then there were signs saying "last exit until the border"... still, no other cars. Man we are sooooooooo naive. The highway then turned and then BOOM...all you could see was complete gridlock. Me being the idiot I am, had just downed an extra-large tea from Timmy's.
We were going absolutely nowhere, fast.

I'm sure y'all could guess what happened next. Yeah, that's right, I made a run for it. Over the hill and through the woods...had to do the Korean squat. Man. To make things extra embarassing, Andrew took a picture of me coming back to the car...aiyah. I'm sure you're all laughing now but I'm so glad I did it because I'd probably be in the hospital right now from a burst bladder ok?! Anyway, the thing that killed me the most is that everyone I talked to today who went to Buffalo the same day, said that the other bridge crossings were totally empty!!! So basically we travelled 5K for the final stretch to the border in 2hrs.

Lessons learned from this trip:

1. No using google map directions ever again.
2. No drinking anything 2 hrs prior to a border crossing, because you never know...
3. If you gotta go, you gotta go. =P
