Too Young
It seems that I'm too young to be married, too young to be a supervisor, too young to be a youth minister, too young to know how to cook, too young to have people skills, too young to know what real work is, to young to know anything about life. Yup, you got it - that's the kind of stuff I've been told since I've gotten here in California. I'm taking Paul's words to Timothy to heart more than ever now.1 Timothy 4:12 (New International Version)
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."
This kind of talk is coming from people like 60yrs old and up into their early 80's. Some of it is coming from almost 50 year olds. A few 40 somethings too. There have been some nasty incidents over the past few weeks that have hurt quite a bit but I think I'm out of eye of the storm now.
I know that God's put me out here to strengthen me and stretch me and probably for many other reasons which He'll reveal in His own time. Admittedly it's been much harder since no one knows me and I have to prove to the lot of them that I'm smarter and much more capable than I look. Plus when these comments come, I take them more personally than most people so I just let it cut deeper. Just gotta remind myself of all the people who do love me and know me well. If anything you all probably think i'm too old...hehe.
PS - wedding photos have finally come in, now the daunting task of writing thank you cards will be pending. don't be surprised if it doesn't make it before Christmas!

Maybe Paul should have included a statement to older people in there somewhere...
"Don't look down on younger people just because you're older and they're *obviously* not as great as you were at that age. But set an example for the believers, and encourage the young - in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity"
