Can You Believe It?
Well, I think Thursday was about one of the crappiest days I've had in a long time.
To start off with...my car was broken into Thursday night.
At first I thought it was dad who forgot to lock my door.
I freaked out because everything in my car was thrown around and a lot it looked like a mess. I was late for work so I called dad as I put everything back in it's right place...$10 was missing from my glove compartment and 10 TTC tokens were emptied out of my ashtray.
I asked dad if he moved my car the night before and he said yes, so I started crying and said that he didn't lock the door or something so someone broke into my car lst night. I drove off to work crying ridiculously and called andrew out of desperation...poor guy had to wake up at 4:30am to hear me cry. So I got to work, sent and email to the cops who have yet to do ANYTHING...and i'm told they won't do anything but thank you for letting them know...because the same thing happened to Prunella (another friend at work) two weeks ago.
Anyway, so at lunch I went to go pick up something and saw that it wasn't dad who left the car unlocked, someone had ripped open the keyhole to my door...not too many scratches or anything but the lock was mangled. Called home and it turns out that not only was it my car but Hae Ja's car, the Jetta next door to us, and the van of the house 2 doors down. All their stuff was lying all over the ground apparently. Maybe the person was getting frustrated for not finding anything by the time he got to their cards.
So we called our insurance company to see if they'd cover the damages...they do but only up to $500. BUT, he said if I claim it, because I already claimed from the last accident, my insurance rate would go up. Thanks a lot for nothing insurance company.
So I left work to go to the police but when i got to the parking lot, Derek A. and Liz, were standing next to my car. When I got there I asked what was going on. They said "It's really not your day eh kim?" I said, "Yeah..." and then they stepped aside to reveal that my driver's side rear tire was totally flat. It turns out that whoever broke into my car last night also left me the gift of a broken key, pointy end jammed between my treads into my tire, so that when I drove, it would slowly but surely be lodged in further to create a hole and a LEAK...thus the flat tire. After some futher freaking out on my part, we tried to change the tire ourselves but couldn't find the jack and lug nut stuff and all the other crap you need to change a tire. Lo and behold it was there the whole time. But alas, too late, I called VW 24hr roadside, who promptly called a tow truck company, who called me to get directions to get someone over to the office parking lot to either tow the car to the nearest dealership OR change the tire for me. Thankfully, the tow truck driver, Colin, got there pretty promptly and changed my tire in 15 minutes flat. I'm so glad I have a full sized spare and I had the air checked back in Feb! Charged me $50 and was on his way. I had left a message for Andrew telling him what happened so he called back while I was on my way home. He was totally speechless too because he couldn't believe the luck I was having. Lucky that he called because I was just about ready to cry myself all the way home like it did all the way to work in the morning. Got home and parked my behind in the house for the next 18 hours...let me just say that I woke up this morning with dread in my heart...got to my car and everything seemed ok.
Went to the dealership today, turns out that getting a new lock and the paint to fix it is $500. To repair the tire was $68. Argh...the person who broke into the car should really get this bill but probably assumes that the person who live in my house can afford these expenses, but really I'm sooooooooooooo broke. Frustrating eh?
And yet, I will still say...God is Good...all the time. I guess, He's gotten me through much worse so how can I doubt? It's just sad that people feel justified doing these things...so I just hope that that person seriously needed the money and tokens desperately...but I know that this world needs God's saving grace and love very badly.
